Many have reservations about getting their COVID vaccine. Millions of people in the US have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history. People of different cultures, ethnicities, and educational backgrounds were included in the research of this vaccine. The vaccines met the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) rigorous scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality needed to support emergency use authorization (EUA).
Can the vaccine give me COVID-19?
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Vaccines cannot give you COVID-19. They do not put the live virus into the vaccine so you cannot get COVID-19 from it. Symptoms are common, it is a normal sign that your body is building protection.
What are normal symptoms?
- Pain, redness, swelling on the arm you received the shot.
- Tiredness
- Headache

Important Information

- Drink plenty of water when you get your shot. It helps reduce discomfort from a fever.
- You can take ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, or antihistamines to relieve post-vaccination side effects if you have no other medical reasons that prevent you from taking these medications normally.
