New site, leadership growth, and capital campaign reflect the organization’s transformation and regional reach.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Erie, Pa., November 19, 2025, 11:15 AM EST – MHEDS (Multi-Cultural Health Evaluation Delivery System) marked another milestone in its historic transformation this week with a groundbreaking ceremony at 1405 Buffalo Road, the former CVS site in Erie. The event celebrated not only the start of construction on a new health center, but also MHEDS’s sweeping expansion over the last 21 months—including the opening of its Parade Street location, the appointment of a new Chief Medical Officer, and the launch of a capital campaign to fund a mobile medical unit that will deliver care directly into Erie County’s most underserved neighborhoods.
“This new Buffalo Road location is more than a building, it’s a promise,” said Alivia Haibach, Chief Executive Officer of MHEDS. “It represents our unwavering commitment to bring equitable, community-based healthcare to families who need it most, right where they live.”
Since early 2024, MHEDS has doubled its clinical capacity, added new clinical and community health services. The Parade Street site alone has provided thousands of new patient visits in one of Erie’s most underserved neighborhoods.
“Our growth is guided by a single purpose, which is meeting people where they are,” Haibach continued. “From Buffalo Road to Parade Street, and soon through our mobile medical unit, MHEDS is breaking down barriers that have kept too many families from receiving healthcare.”
The new mobile medical unit, announced as part of MHEDS’s capital campaign, will extend primary care, preventive screenings, and education into rural and hard-to-reach areas across Erie County. The initiative reflects MHEDS’s strategy to combine neighborhood-based clinics with mobile outreach that can deliver services directly to those who need them most.
“Our mobile medical unit will extend the reach of MHEDS far beyond our walls,” Haibach said. “From main streets to farmhouses, we will meet people where they are, because healthcare access should never depend on a ZIP code.”
In a powerful show of community partnership, Golden Home Healthcare presented the first gift to the campaign, a $7,000 donation announced during the ceremony to help launch the Mobile Medical Unit initiative.
“Golden Home Healthcare is honored to support MHEDS in expanding access to care for families who need it most,” stated Prakash Timsina, Office Administrator of Golden Home Healthcare. “We see firsthand how distance, transportation, and cost keep too many people from the care they deserve. This contribution reflects our commitment to strengthening the health of our region and ensuring no one is left behind.”

Chief Medical Officer,
MHEDS
Appointed earlier this year, Dr. Maggie Biebel, D.O., MHEDS’s new Chief Medical Officer, underscored the importance of the organization’s growth for patient outcomes. “Each new site and service expands our ability to provide continuous, coordinated care,” she said. “Every patient—regardless of language, background, or circumstance—deserves the same high-quality, compassionate treatment that defines MHEDS.”
Dylanna Grasinger, Chair of the MHEDS Board of Directors, said the pace of transformation reflects the organization’s deep commitment to the community. “In less than two years, MHEDS has evolved from a single-site provider into a regional leader in equitable healthcare delivery,” the Chair said. “These investments on Parade Street, on Buffalo Road, and soon through the mobile unit, represent a united vision for Erie’s future.”
