A
Letter from
our CEO
As we close another year at MHEDS (Multi-Cultural Health Evaluation Delivery System), I am reminded of the profound impact we’ve been able to make together—an impact that would not be possible without your unwavering support.
In 2024 alone, we doubled our capacity to provide healthcare services to historically marginalized communities with the opening of our new facility on Parade Street. This vital expansion, combined with the addition of four new healthcare providers, means that more individuals and families—many of whom face language barriers, economic hardships, and systemic inequities—are receiving the care they need and deserve.
Additionally, MHEDS has taken decisive steps to combat one of the most pressing health issues facing Erie’s children—lead poisoning. Lead exposure can have devastating effects on a child’s development, but through our partnerships and outreach initiatives, we are working to identify and mitigate this hidden danger. By providing screenings, education, and resources to affected families, we are helping to safeguard the health and future of Erie’s youngest residents.
Our mission to deliver equitable, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care is at the heart of everything we do. Over 87% of our patients speak a language other than English, and through your generosity, we’ve been able to provide healthcare services in Nepali, Arabic, Swahili, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, and more. Your contributions help ensure that language is never a barrier to compassionate care.
This year, your support has helped us:
- Expand access to care: We’ve screened and served thousands of refugees and immigrants, many of whom are navigating the challenges of a new life in Erie.
- Enhance patient outcomes: Through our holistic approach, we address not only immediate healthcare needs but also mental and social well-being.
- Mitigate lead poisoning risks: By addressing environmental health concerns, we are creating safer homes and healthier communities for our children.
- Promote health equity: By tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of our diverse population, we are creating a healthier, more vibrant community for all.
As we look toward 2025, our vision is to go even further, but we cannot do it without you.
