MHEDS’ model of nursing care includes Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants. With two health center sites, recruitment for our John F. Kennedy Center office was the focus this past summer. After a lengthy search, Rolanda Johnson, RN, BSN, was hired to provide care and related services to our valued patients at that health center site.
An Erie native, Rolanda started her career in health care as a Certified Nursing Assistant at one of Erie’s local nursing homes. From there, she furthered her studies to become an Emergency Medical Technician. She gained valuable experience assessing emergent conditions of people of all ages and backgrounds. She did everything from performing life-saving CPR to bandaging wounds to stabilize patients for transport to the nearest hospital.
Wanting to further her education, she attended Mercyhurst University. She first earned an Associate Degree in Nursing followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Rolanda is also licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She now attends our patients at MHEDS’ John F. Kennedy Center office where she is now pursuing certification in Diabetes Education to educate patients through MHEDS’ “Ethnic Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support” program.
Please welcome Rolanda to our care team!
